How we met
Chris and Amy met at work, of all places. Amy had just started and was still in training. She was sitting with Lisa Marie Quillen (thank you Lisa, wherever you are!), and it was there that Chris first caught sight of her. He was smitten. He came over to Lisa Marie's desk to get an introduction, and took advantage of the opportunity to check for a wedding ring (and found none). The next Monday, much to Chris's delight, Amy began mentoring with a friend of his, Jeff Hamman. Chris decided to use Jeff as a go-between . On Tuesday, Jeff informed Amy that someone had a crush on her. He proceeded to tease her with bits of information about this mystery man (he was a math geek, he liked Mac computers, he read a lot. etc.). Of course, Amy's curiosity was piqued. She began evaluating various men who were spending a lot of time in the mentor area. Meanwhile, Jeff reported back to Chris that Amy was single, and interested, based on what she had heard regarding this secret admirer .
As the week wore on, Chris found opportunities to speak with Amy during breaks. As Amy found more information about him, she became more and more confident that hear was her admirer! The final clue came when Carl Murray stopped her outside of the break room, and asked, " So, what do you think of Chris? "
On Friday, October 9, 1998, after much hemming and hawing, Chris realized that Amy knew. He wrote down his name, email, and phone number (misspelling his name in the process), and asked Amy to call him. Amy called, and the next day was their first date.
The rest, is history.
